BIOGRAPHIE
Sophie Robert est née en 1994 à Liège, en Belgique.
Bien avant que l’art ne devienne une démarche, il est d’abord pour elle une manière de regarder.
Enfant timide et curieuse, Sophie trouve très tôt refuge dans le dessin et la peinture. Fascinée par les formes et les couleurs du vivant, elle observe et reproduit l’abeille qui butine, la dentelle façonnée par l’araignée, les nervures d’une feuille ou les ramifications d’un arbre. Plus que les choses elles-mêmes, ce sont déjà leurs lignes et leurs structures qui retiennent son attention.
Cette fascination devient si envahissante qu’on finit par lui retirer crayons et pinceaux, sans jamais lui enlever le regard qu’elle porte sur le monde.
À dix-sept ans, elle découvre le Street Art et le maniement de la bombe aérosol. Le trait change alors d’échelle, quitte la feuille et rencontre de nouveaux supports ainsi qu’une plus grande liberté du geste.
Elle se forme ensuite au métier de prothésiste dentaire et se spécialise en céramique, un artisanat où précision, maîtrise de la matière et exigence du détail façonnent durablement sa manière de créer.
En 2021, Sophie revient pleinement à la pratique artistique de manière autodidacte. Nourrie par les livres, les musées, l’histoire de l’art et l’architecture, elle développe une grammaire plastique fondée sur la couleur, la profondeur et la lumière. Chacune de ces notions est d’abord étudiée individuellement avant d’être réunie aux autres, jusqu’à devenir l’une des règles qui structurent aujourd’hui son travail.
En 2025, elle se passionne pour la complexité des vitraux, autant dans leur construction que dans leur richesse chromatique. Leur géométrie, leur rapport à la matière et à la lumière, mais aussi leur capacité à transformer une surface en véritable espace visuel deviennent une nouvelle source d’inspiration. Sophie développe alors des œuvres pensées comme des fenêtres, où la rigueur du trait structurel des rosaces rencontre la liberté du trait organique de l’Art nouveau. De cette rencontre naît un dialogue entre architecture et mouvement, entre structure et vivant.
L’importance du trait s’affirme aujourd’hui à son tour, venant compléter les principes qui structurent son langage plastique.
Sophie travaille actuellement à la création d’un ensemble de onze œuvres, volontairement conservées en vue d’une présentation commune.
BIOGRAPHY
Sophie Robert was born in 1994 in Liège, Belgium.
Long before art became an artistic practice, it was first and foremost a way of seeing.
A shy and curious child, Sophie found refuge early on in drawing and painting. Fascinated by the forms and colours of the living world, she observed and reproduced the bee gathering nectar, the delicate lace woven by a spider, the veins of a leaf, and the branching structure of a tree. More than the subjects themselves, it was already their lines and structures that captured her attention.
Her fascination became so all-consuming that, at times, her pencils and brushes were taken away from her — but never the way she looked at the world.
At seventeen, she discovered Street Art and began working with spray paint. The line changed scale, moved beyond the page and encountered new surfaces, along with a greater freedom of gesture.
She later trained as a dental technician and specialised in ceramics, a craft in which precision, mastery of materials and attention to detail would leave a lasting influence on her approach to creation.
In 2021, Sophie fully returned to artistic practice as a self-taught artist. Drawing from books, museums, art history and architecture, she developed a visual grammar based on colour, depth and light. Each of these notions was first explored individually before being brought together, gradually becoming part of the principles that structure her work today.
In 2025, she became fascinated by the complexity of stained glass, both in its construction and in its chromatic richness. Its geometry, its relationship with material and light, and its ability to transform a surface into a true visual space became a new source of inspiration. Sophie then began developing works conceived as windows, where the rigour of the structural lines of rose windows meets the freedom of the organic line of Art Nouveau. From this encounter emerges a dialogue between architecture and movement, between structure and the living world.
The line has now taken on a new importance, completing the principles that shape her visual language.
Sophie is currently working on a body of eleven works, intentionally kept together with the aim of presenting them as a complete ensemble.
